A look back on the cars of 2008
With so many new cars and updated models
out there I thought it important to examine this years fleet and establish
which cars stood up to be counted. Some of the most important factors to
consider in my choices I were running costs (fuel consumption, car insurance costs,
general running costs), looks and safety features (for both passengers and
pedestrians) so without any further stalling, here they are
Ford
Focus
As the top selling car in the UK, the Focus
is a firm favourite and the new, faster and prettier model has not
disappointed. In 2008 the Focus received a five star Euro NCAP rating and the ST models
have been made even racier. The Focus will continue to sell well as the latest
model has definitely improved!
Vauxhall
Insignia
The replacement for the Vauxhall Vectra is
called the Insignia and it was premiered at the 2008 British motor show and
made quite an impression. Borrowing some lines from the GTC concept car that
was shown at the Geneva motor show, the Insignia is a beautiful car at a
reasonably price. Vauxhall are indeed back.
Citroen
C5
The Citroen C5s of old were a little
plain, but a little insane at the same time. The new C5 has raised the bar for
four door saloons with its bold, brave lines and inventive design. And that is
just on the outside, because on the inside it feels like you might be captain
of the Starship Enterprise with its fixed-hub steering wheel where the centre
console doesnt move while you turn the steering wheel.
These cars are all reasonably priced and car insurance policies for
them wont ruin your bank balance. So those are quite possibly the most
important family cars to be released in 2008, but keep an eye out for more
articles on the top supercars of the past year as well as what we can look
forward to in 2009.
